Hola from Spain! It’s the 10th day here for our group, and has been one of my favorites.

We started off the day with a very important discussion of how to tell a story.  This may sound simple, but it’s a valuable skill to have when talking with specific groups of people such as friends, family, and even potential employers.  It was very interesting that one of our teachers, Tommy, began the class by describing to us two very important stories that have shaped who he is today and how we can share similar experiences in our life.

After class, we had the very fun activity of making hand puppets in the ISA office.  This activity wasn’t originally planned for today, but the scheduling worked out and it was a great experience. After a long time planning, cutting out, and decorating our puppets, we finally finished them.  We had a lot of good ideas, and they turned out really well.  They were made for children at La Casa Grande Charitable House, and we will bring the puppets along with other necessary supplies to the foundation on another day soon. La Casa Grande is an organization dedicated to helping children and adolescents through donations and other resources.  It’s a very rewarding experience and very important for me personally to able to help these children and their families by any means.

After making puppets, our next stop was the beach.  Our group met up with another group of ISA students from the University of Florida that had arrived a few weeks earlier than us.  We played a few games of volleyball against the other group, and had a lot of fun.  I can’t speak for the other team, but I know we were ready for a competition.  After many dives and some minor injuries, our group lost 2-4 to the group from Florida. There were many other games played such as frisbee and football.

While most students were playing volleyball, a few of us (including myself) bought large blankets to lay on.  The day ended with all of the students in our group laying on a sea of blankets and towels – talking, sleeping, sunbathing, etc.  It was a great time with a great group of people. Since we were outside at the beach for so long today, I’m sure today will also be a record for most sunburns earned, myself included. I’m interested to see how everyone else fares tomorrow!
